Winter preparation

Here are some steps for winterizing your outdoor plumbing which is crucial to prevent freezing and bursting during the colder months.

Disconnect, drain and remove all garden hoses from outdoor faucet AKA hose bibbs. If your hose bibb has a shut off inside the house, turn off the water supply to them and then open the faucet to drain any remaining water. We suggest insulating the exposed water lines in the garage and take extra precautions on cold snaps by maintaining a warmer temperature in the garage. For extra protection install insulated covers on outdoor faucets. Also, if you have a yard irrigation system, shut off the water supply to it and blow out any remaining water in the lines.
